hey all,

can anyone give me some clues on replacing my inners and outers...? done inners/outers on yotas and domestics...

are there any secrets pertaining to volvos specifically when dealing with the inners...?

what is the general consensus on the wheel bearing quality and their longevity...?

weekend project is getting moved up to sometime this week out of pure boredom...!

over and out...

wheel bearings seem to last forever on the Gen1s
Inners and outers are cake just make sure you have a big opened wrench for the inners.

outters IIRC are 17mm

oh that and a torch and so PBlaster incase there really rusted out.

What he said ^^^^

For the inners...I had to use a small pipe wrench...mine were a complete pain the rump to get back in for some stupid reason.

sweetness...got a tool box full of tools that are more than willing to assist in breaking threads loose...

as for reassembly do you all use any loc-tite (mediumish) and is there any torq specs on the inner/outer...?

lastly, what did you use for securing the boot...clamp or zip...?

Pipe wrench for sure. My two wheel bearing(front) were toast around 160K.

just an update to the inner/outer tie rods...
started at 4:30...done by 5:30, missing my alignment appointment by 6 minutes (boohoo)...
the odd thing about my inners was that neither the old inners or new inners had flats on the socket of the rod...so what does a shade tree mechanic have to do...use a vise grip...one quick push and the oldies broke loose...
as for the new ones a bit of med loctite and a snug pull of the vise grip, they secured beautifully...!!!
NO MORE MOVEMENT...wheels are snug as a bug in a rug...

thanks to all whom made suggestions...
